An Interview with Nacho Puerto.

Who and where are you from?

I am NP and I was born in Valencia, Spain but I I grew in Castellón, a Little city near the Mediterranean sea. This town is where I live and I feel comfortable to work.

How you got into this?

As usual in this world, I started to Paint since I was a child. From an early age, I was so sure that my whole life resolved around this artistic world.

In 2000 I began my career in the university of Valencia, where I graduated in Fine Arts in 2005. Later, I got the master about “artistic production” in the same university. During all this time, I continued working and looking for my own way, giving national and interntional exhibitons. In 2013 I was admitted in the famous School of Visual Arts in New York where I gave an exhibition. Nowadays I work in a studio where I give lessons of painting and drawing, continuing my personal work.

What is your driving force?

In fact, for me painting is a necessity of life more than a vocation. All that makes me feel pain, frustation, joy… But the only thing I know is that I need to paint. I suppose this is my giving force which brings me to be a professional painter.

What kind of work you do and why?

In latter times, my style and technics have been changing. For this reason, it has been a progressive way which I still working in. At this time, I am working figurative Works on raw Wood. In this way, I play with all these possibilities that those material offer me. On the other hand, I have new projects in mind, as a series about “the Metamorphosis” of Kafka and another one based on the film “The whitch”.
