Somewhere Far Away Uluru.
From the Brush of Artist - "I am a cosmopolitan oddball, born in Ukraine, transported by family circumstance to Russia, blown by the wind of change to America and finally putting some sort of semi-roots here in gorgeous east coast of Australia.

I painted and drew all my life but circumstances of my upbringing were such that I ended up a Wall Street and then a Silicon Valley corporate lawyer.  Fortune has been decidedly mine, however, to be able to devote myself to art full time as of 2013 and here I am now a represented artist with Stanley Street Galley in Sydney, with a solo show under my belt, another two solo shows coming up within a year and many group shows I took part in.

In work my driving force is the exploration of a feeling of alienation, be in a landscape or human form (that of a body and face).  In the century we are living in with the destruction of our natural habitat and construction of an altar for the High Priestess of Technology…humans, in my opinion, are becoming further and further alienated from the very nature of life that sustains them…that of pure air, water, unpolluted landscape and unadulterated human connection—a touch, a glance, a caress, a walk in the forest, a bird’s song…where have you all gone? (to Instangram to be sure).

In the collection of works displayed on the blog, I have included two portraits 'Life is Elsewhere and Phenomenology of Perception'.  I have recently started working with portraits of a musician and collaborator I met on Instagram--MUUI @muui_.  Both his music and and his unusual face have inspired me to paint a series of portraits of a person the artist really does not know but projects her feelings and a sense of what that person may be like upon.  MUUI, in turn, was inspired by my works and included a few of them in his music releases.  While, technically collaborating with someone on the other side of the globe is exciting and mostly possible due to the evolving technology, in a way the experience of alienation from the real human contact is only heightened by the ease of technological availability which does not lead to a real human connection."
