Euterpe's Gift |
An Interview with Jaclyn Alderete.
Who and where are you from?
My name is Jaclyn Alderete and I'm originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, but have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2001.
How you got into this?
I've always enjoyed drawing and creating since I was a child, but I fell in love with oil paint when I was 16. It wasn't long after that that I knew I would want to spend my life making art.
What is your driving force?
Life, in all it's absurdity, wonder, joy, and pain.
What kind of work you do and why?
My work is figurative. Although I enjoy abstract and landscape painting, I find I am most fulfilled painting the human figure. There is much to capture in just a simple gesture, expression, or even a single feature.
